XAKA does not currently require you to create an account. Depending on how you use the service, we process:

• the town or search area you enter, or your current location when you choose to use it, and the corresponding coordinates;
• your surfing preferences, including skill level, search radius and preferred date;
• feedback you choose to submit, such as a rating, selected issues, an optional note and the related surf-session context;
• technical information normally generated when connecting to an online service, such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, and server logs.

Location access is optional. XAKA requests access to your device's current location only when you choose to use the location feature and grant permission. You can always enter a town or search area manually.

2. How We Use Information

We process this information to:

• find surf spots in the area you select;
• provide surf forecasts and recommendations;
• display maps and information about surf spots;
• review feedback and improve the service;
• maintain the security, reliability and performance of XAKA.

3. Location and Search Data

When you search for a location, XAKA sends the town or area you enter, or the current location you choose to share, and its coordinates to our servers to identify relevant surf spots. Device location is accessed only while you are using the app and only after you grant permission. XAKA does not access your location in the background or use it for advertising or tracking.

4. Feedback and Local Storage

If you submit feedback, it is sent to our servers and may be kept with the related recommendation context so that we can understand and improve XAKA. A limited feedback history and unsent feedback may also be stored locally on your device. You can remove this local data by clearing the application's storage or uninstalling the app.

5. Service Providers

We use service providers to operate XAKA, including cloud hosting, map imagery, and weather and ocean forecast data providers. Mapbox provides map imagery displayed in the application. These providers may process technical information needed to deliver their services under their own privacy terms.

6. Sharing and Advertising

We do not sell your personal information, and the current version of XAKA does not display third-party advertising. We disclose information only to providers needed to operate the service, when required by law, or to protect the rights and security of XAKA and its users.

7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide, secure and improve XAKA, handle user requests, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and its purpose. We may retain anonymized information that can no longer identify a user.

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. Communications between the application and our online services use encrypted HTTPS connections. No internet service can, however, guarantee absolute security.
